Everyday Bay Area: Picturing the New California Dream
Thursday, May 18, 2017, 6-9 pm
Google San Francisco, 188 The Embarcadero
Please be our guest on Thursday, May 18, for an event celebrating our new initiative, Everyday Bay Area: Picturing the New California Dream.
Inspired by Everyday Africa, CatchLight's Everyday Bay Area focuses the power of visual storytelling to help us see and understand each other across identities, age, demographics and geographies. Everyday Bay Area leverages Instagram and on-the-go photography to encourage professionals and amateurs alike to shoot stories and gather meaningful visual exchanges that connect us.
In addition, the event celebrates the West Coast launch of Everyday Africa's new publication, “Everyday Africa: 30 Photographers Re-Picturing a Continent,” and copies will be available for purchase and signing by co-editor Austin Merrill, co-founder of Everyday Africa. Originally on Instagram only, Everyday Africa now holds photo exhibitions and has developed an educational curriculum to examine inherent bias and the use of visual literacy to break social barriers and strengthen communities around the globe.
Please join us to view a selection of images from both Everyday Bay Area and Everyday Africa.
Wine & light refreshments will be provided. We're looking forward to seeing you! RSVP here.
