Everyday Bay Area is a project of CatchLight and The Everyday Projects, in partnership with KQED Public Media. We are focusing the power of visual storytelling to help San Francisco Bay Area residents see and understand each other across identities, ages, demographics and geographies.

Based on a curated Instagram feed, Everyday Bay Area encourages professionals and amateurs alike to shoot “photography that matters.” We seek stories that connect people—images that ignite curiosity and promote inclusion, tolerance and respect.

Everyday Bay Area explores issues that are unique to life in the Bay with the theme, Picturing The New California Dream, The California Dream has always meant seeking fame and fortune, from the Gold Rush to Hollywood to Silicon Valley. But now, California faces vast economic disparity among its residents. What is the California Dream today?

Show us your Everyday Bay Area by using the hashtag #everydaybayarea on Instagram. All tagged images will be considered for the Everyday Bay Area Instagram feed and exposure at live events and exhibitions.

Be sure to follow along on Facebook, too. How are you picturing California?
